I am so horrible! Life has been so crazy, and I need to make more time to sit down and write because this is what I want to do with my life. I have so many things that I would like to share and say. So after this, I HAVE to get myself together and write more.
Where we left off was the first day of my New York trip that my boyfriend surprised me with. So we shall continue on with the journey. The second day went great! There weren’t any rude men walking around throwing shade at anyone. It was just inhumanly humid the second day while walking around. The temperature reached 90 degrees. But it was made up with all the delicious food we ate that day.
We made it our day if eating, because that’s what we basically did all day. We slept through breakfast, but we went to Gotham West Market for lunch. It was not what I expected when we walked into the large building. When you walk in, you’re met with different aromas. There are an abundance of different food selections you can choose from. Everything is in the same room, but they had a cafe/bakery, an ice cream bar, a station that had burgers, fries, shakes and other foods that go with burgers. A station that has sushi burritos, the station that Mike and I went to served different kinds or ramen and steam buns. Let me just tell you…..IT WAS AMAZING. I got the shrimp steak bun, and it was overwhelmingly delicious. The ramen was good, just a little too salty for my liking. We then went back to Chinatown because we had to get a snack there. One of Mike and I’s favorite places is an ice cream shop called Eggloo. It’s a small shop that you wouldn’t notice since it’s on the side of a building. But you go in and sometimes there’s a long wait because it’s pretty popular. When it’s finally your turn you get to choose the flavor of your waffle cone, I always get green tea, with chocolate ice cream. You then have a choice of endless toppings you can pick from. And when you try your first bite, you can say it was worth the wait. After our snack we were pretty stuffed. So we walked around for a bit longer, then decided to go back to rest a little before dinner. For dinner we decided to go to the family style restaurant Carmines. We underestimated the family style part because when we got our food it was huge! We got stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, which were pretty good just a little spicy. We then got an order of ravioli with cheese, and that’s all we ordered because it was big enough for 5 people to eat. But it was all tasty. After the large meal we ordered some cheesecake to go and then got an uber back to our B&B.
Just in case you don’t know, unless it’s just me. There is a difference between New York cheesecake, and Italian cheesecake. New York cheesecake is creamier and thick, while Italian cheesecake is made with ricotta and it’s ‘fluffy’. So I did not really enjoy the cheesecake since I’m used to the Nee York style. But out that in your pocket before you order.
The next morning I we had to pack up and get ready to leave. But not before trying to finish the new season of OITNB (Orange is the New Black). We were almost late to check out but we made it. The crazy day didn’t end there though. I wanted to go to Times Square before we caught the bus so that I could go to Carlo’s Bakery. I wanted to pick up my mom some cannolis. But then Mike said we have and hour before we get on the bus, so that we should get some lunch. That was our first mistake. We went to subway and waited until 20 minutes before we caught our bus, but we had to drive another 10 minutes to get to the Mega Bus stop. When I ordered an Uber the guy didn’t know where to pick us up or where to go, I was stressed because I didn’t want to miss the bus. The driver still hadn’t come yet so Mike ordered an Uber, which came on time. Mine kept calling me so I decided to ignore him thinking that he would just cancel the trip. I was wrong, he charged me as if I took the trip and then double for making him wait. So I had to contact Uber asking for a refund.
I don’t know how we did it, but we made the bus on time. So we settled in for the 6 hour bus ride back home.
